"Go into all the world" declares the Lord

i want to share with you something that is straight from my heart and out of pure love. as christians God has commanded us to:

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age."
Matthew 28: 19-20

several people will argue about what the word "go" stands for. does it mean i go to the people i love, go to my family, go to my school, go to another city, go to another state, go to another country, go to another continent. of course the answer to those is YES! we go. we go where God leads. it isn't the destination it's the obedience. it's being a light in the darkness. for some that might be your school. for others it will mean leaving everything you've ever know and traveling around the world. i get asked all the time about why we aren't serving overseas. my parents are missionaries and i spent a good portion of my life overseas. and i say to those people that we walk in that direction every day and God is just closing those doors right now. we walk that direction just in the way we walk the road of adoption every day. who knows, God might close this door to. what God wants us to do is walk. i 100% believe without a doubt that we are called to be a light in the darkness. i agree that there are places overseas that are the darkest places on the planet. but going through this foster/adoption i'm seeing a completely different dark place.

i'm meeting a group of kids who know nothing of the goodness of God. i'm seeing kids who don't know beauty or love. they don't know safety. this is the dark place God has asked us to be a light right now. this is just a small part of the 143 MILLION orphans around the world. and all i can think is that adoption is a wide open door. you don't have to wait for God to open the door for you. he's done that. you just have to walk through it and then let him close the doors that you aren't supposed to walk through. please ask yourself how you can help. i know it might seem impossible to even make a dent in the 143 million orphans around the world. but to save one life is more than none at all. do you have room? do you have love? then ask yourself why wouldn't you.

My dear children, let's not just talk about love; let's practice real love.
I John 3:18

Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world.
James 1:27

if not you then who? who is going to care for these kids? who is going to "go" to them? who is going to share with them the goodness of God? who is going to say "i love you"? who is going to provide them safety? who is going to show them Jesus?
